“Let’s try the uneven bars!” Caroline blurted, the thrill of adventure igniting her spirit. Ava’s eyes sparkled with delight, and together they jogged over to the towering apparatus, each bar glinting invitingly in the gym's fluorescent lights.
As they reached the bars, Caroline felt a mix of excitement and fear. “You ready?” she asked, glancing at Ava, who was already studying the overhead grips with determination. They climbed up and took their positions, both encouraging each other with reassuring smiles.
Ava went first, gracefully pulling herself up and swinging with surprising ease. Caroline watched in awe, realizing that she, too, could conquer her fears. Finally, it was her turn. She grasped the cool metal, her heartbeat quickening. As she launched into a clumsy swing, Caroline felt a surge of exhilaration. But just as she began to feel in control, her foot slipped.
She could either try to regain her balance and keep going or jump down to safety and regroup with Ava. What would she choose?
